Everyone can agree that the “brand” of Desert Mountain is something owners need to protect. In not much more than 25 years, our community has grown to include over 1,800 magnificent homes. We live in an exceptional real estate and recreational community. Total valuation is over $2 billion. Success of the Desert Mountain community is the brand we enjoy.
DMMA management has an obligation to protect and promote that brand. Our CC&Rs are the foundation on which our brand depends. Like our nation is protected by the U.S. Constitution, Desert Mountain is protected by our CC&Rs. That brand should not be changed without careful consideration and full participation of all owners who care to be involved.
Our existing CC&R’s have brought us a long way. Until these rent restrictions were proposed, our CC&Rs had been very stable. The March 12 proposal would change both the public perception of our community and our reputation. Most DM owners bought property believing they had the right to select guests of their choice. That’s our brand. The proposed rent restrictions would deprive owners of a property right now guaranteed by CC&Rs in effect for many years. Is that the brand we want to project – a community that deprives owners of property rights without their consent?
